OUR STORY
In 1948, Lee Broms was brought to Peoria by Bergners to run their fur department.Eleven months later, Ferns Fur shop became available, and in October of 1949, Lee Broms Furs opened their doors at 404 Fulton Street,in a 400 square foot space in downtown Peoria.
In June of 1956, his favorite son was born,(o.k, o.k, his only son), and by age 4, Jeff was learning the trade. He learned how to nail skins for boas and stoles (what kid didn't want to hammer something). And so, the seed was planted!
Jeff started working in the store by 5th grade, walking to the store after school to empty
garbage, make gift boxes, and began to learn how to clean and glaze furs.
During his junior year in High School, Jeff was in the co-op program, getting out of school by 12:15 and working at the store until 5 p.m.. After High School, Jeff put himself through College at Bradley for 21/2 years until his father was diagnosed with a heart condition. He came into the store full-time, and never looked back.
The rest is history!
Broms furs and fashions has recently moved to our New location, in the beautiful Peoria Heights (things have changed just a bit from 1949).
